917.621.7105 Dulcie Dee, a native New Yorker was an art major at Fiorello La Guardia H.S. of Music and the Arts. She won 1st prize for the NYC Anti-Drug Abuse poster contest that inspired her to pursue the arts as her life career. She traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia and fell in love with snorkeling in the Philippines where she discovered the unique underwater world of their coral reefs. Mesmerized by the beauty of the sea, she painted the “Marine Dreams” series that premiered at the Hiraya Gallery, Manila, Philippines capturing her joyful discovery of this rapidly eroding Philippine eco-treasure. International reviews in popular magazines such as ‘Asiaweek’, ‘Taipan’, ‘Filipinas’ and ‘Transpacific’ featured Dee's efforts to alert the public to the conservation of its delicate coral reefs. Her work is a Zen fusion of East and West. Each painting pulsates with rich, vibrant, tropical colors painted with clarity, texture, precision and detail with a free-flowing sense of subject, shade and color. Her entrancing seascapes were followed by enigmatic paintings of lovely, demure yet sensuous Geishas and Asian women revealing the erotic sensuality of the female body. Connoisseurs of nudes and nature from more than 14 countries have purchased her sensuous paintings for their private collections. Dee exhibited “The Peking Princess” at The National Arts Club in NY and launched her BXW “Naked City” lithographs at Hiraya Gallery, Manila (www.hiraya.com). Her erotic “Shunga” series were exhibited at the Monkdogz Gallery (www.monkdogz.com). Roberto Novo Salon, NY displayed the new collection of handmade paper mache masks. She teach again at the 2011 Creative Arts workshop in NY. Dee is currently working on a new erotic collage series for Paris. P A I N T I N G S M A S K S |
